Taichi is an ancient Chinese martial art. It has graceful meditative movements, which relaxes and stimulates every part of the body. Literally Taichi means ‘Grand Ultimate’. The great life force is a moving meditation with two vital energies: the passive and the active principle. Thus Taichi is represented by the YinYang symbol. Thus it has softness within hardness and hardness within softness.
Taichi, the highest form of martial art, is a combination of physical exercise, breathing techniques and meditation. It helps us to attain a high degree of fitness, both mentally and physically. It cultivates our personality and refreshes our mind.
While practicing Taichi, we feel the perspiration with slow and deep breathing, but the pulse rate remains normal. At the end we can feel more energetic.
Taichi is more beneficial than other exercises because it relaxes the cardiovascular system and stress is placed on muscles and not on the joints. Hence Taichi uses calming, structured movements and is used as a therapy by itself.
