Hi friends here I scribbling about my 1st camp experience…..
Only 16 cadets represented Tamil Nadu in the National Integration Camp, proud to say among them 5 cadets are from Our Government College of Engineering, Salem. The camp was held in TRIPURA (AGARTALA). Actually it took 4 days to reach camp site, 3 days to reach Assam’s capital Gawahati by train and one day travel by bus from Gawahati to reach Camp site. The bus travel was awes one, so many soldiers were there on the top of the hills and a few of them came along with our cadets in gypsies' disguise for their security. Traveling to north-east part of India is a bit difficult.
We cadets left Salem on Jan 3, 2008 and reached the campsite on Jan 7, 2008. The next morning we attended Physical training Parade. The whole camp site was covered by fog at 6.30am. It was found to be difficult to fix them there; it was a splendid experience for our cadets.
Cadets from 23 states enrolled themselves in the camp. Then we started their interaction with others. Language is their main problem. There we were guided by two officers who belonged to Tamil Nadu. One was a medical officer from Kerala. So with this entire people the camp went smoothly, though the food and water were not up to the expected level.
Side by side the cultural programs were started. In National Integration Program our cadets explained about Culture, Religion, Language and also great personalities of our state. We got 3rd prize in that program from Lt. Col. Alok Mehra and also he appreciated about our cadets activities throughout the camp.
Our cadets participated in all events and bagged the prizes. These activities made our cadets realize about team work [TEAM-Together Everybody Achieve More]. They also came to know about the culture, costumes, personalities etc… of other states. The feeling of oneness was felt by our cadets in the Nation Integration camp.
We went on an outing to Agartala market, Bangladesh border, temples; we also met Tripura Governor in his house and also had discussion with him for a couple of hours. On 18th Jan 2008, we started from Tripura to return to Salem. We found it to be a little bit depressing when all cadets return to their home town due to their separation.
